Relationship Problems

Your relationship has become, for whatever reason, strained to the point of being seriously at risk. You, your partner or both of you are not getting your needs met and this has started to take its toll. You may need help in finding a fresh source of happiness in your relationship, or in making the difficult decision to break up.

Relationship Counselling

There are several formats in which counselling can be used to help you through relationship problems.

One to One Counselling: Much of the time in relationships we find that we are unable to adequately express ourselves. A one to one counselling contract can give us the space to start to understand ourselves, such that we have a better chance of being heard by our partner.

Couples Counselling: This involves you, your partner and myself. Couples counselling provides a safe environment in which both people can begin to express what they have previously felt unable to. My role is to facilitate the balance between the two of you, ensuring that both parties hear one another's needs.

Duo Counselling: This is similar couples counselling, except that it involves you, your partner, myself and a female colleague of mine - also a qualified counsellor. This is a more expensive, but none the less superior form of relationship counselling to couples counselling. An additional therapist, especially of the opposite gender, provides an added perspective. This facilitates a deeper and more balanced relationship.

One important factor to bear in mind about relationship counselling is that you cannot change formats with the same counsellor. Once you have seen me in a one to one relationship, I am not able to work with you in either a duo counselling or a couples counselling capacity. However, if the situation arose, I would refer you to an alternative service of the same high quality.
